Constantly Creating
The footer of our website promises that we’re constantly creating. And we are. But all our creating (and iterating) happens behind the scenes and really only manifests in its final product form on our website. But our creative process is where we find joy, tangle with each other, acknowledge each other’s opinions, apologize when necessary, laugh (a lot), and ultimately land on and embrace new ideas that neither of us could have envisioned on our own.
We wrestle with colors. Box colors, ribbon colors, even candy cup colors. Do our ribbon colors all complement one another? We talk a lot about bonbon paint colors – how many should we use on each bonbon? Do we brush or spatter them? And ultimately, are they aesthetic companions in their box?
We wrestle with packaging. Chocolate boxes, shipping boxes, and all the parchment and packing peanuts and tissue paper that go inside them. We discuss our labels. Do our choices represent us well? Are they fiscally responsible? As we look ahead, do we need to add new shapes, sizes, and colors? Of anything?
We wrestle with flavor profiles. Often. Because the possibilities are endless. And so compelling. Different chocolates, fruits, nuts, spices, flowers, herbs, even vegetables – what can we fuse with what in a ganache? We try recipes, and then we taste and tweak and taste and tweak until we get to Yes. Or No. And then we do it all over again. Honestly, it’s one of the best parts of the job.
Here’s a little preview on this front for our coming Spring Bonbon Box – in no particular order or implied combination, the flavors we’re currently working with include blueberry, apricot, lemon, blood orange, pistachio, vanilla, basil, hibiscus, rhubarb – as well as a full complement of chocolates. We hope you’ll stay tuned – our newest creations will be introduced soon…
